Net Zero Carbon
Here + Now is one of the first redevelopments in the UK targeting net zero for both operational and embodied carbon. Whole life emissions calculated at 6,916 tCO2e will be offset by the planting of domestic woodland. Good Energy provides 100% renewable electricity to the buildings and offsets carbon from gas usage in Now.
Energy
Energy for Here + Now is sourced from Good Energy, with electricity usage matched to 100% renewables (solar, wind, hydro and biofuel). Energy efficiency in Here has been improved with a new, fully electric heating and cooling system. Emissions from gas usage in Now are neutralised by Good Energy through investment in verified carbon reduction projects.
Fitwel 3*
Here + Now has a three-star Fitwel certification – the highest rating – recognising the emphasis placed on health and wellness in the design, development and operation of the buildings. Our Fitwel scorecard identifies the benefits to physical and mental health provided by the natural surroundings of Here + Now, as well as our indoor and outdoor exercise facilities, incentives for sustainable transit, RESET air quality monitoring and access to healthy food options.
RESET
RESET Air is the world’s first and only dedicated ongoing air quality monitoring standard. Through the use of live, sensor-driven performance data, RESET monitors air quality parameters that affect long-term health, wellbeing and productivity, including CO2 levels, VOCs and particulates from traffic and local industry. High performance standards are required to be met continuously to maintain accreditation.
BREEAM OUTSTANDING
Here + Now targets the highest level of sustainability certification – BREEAM Outstanding. BREEAM measures the overall sustainability of the building, across a number of environmental factors including energy, water, waste and transport. BREEAM Outstanding demonstrates best practice in planning, design and construction of Here + Now, with the refurbished buildings supporting the highest aspirations of occupants wanting to minimise their environmental impact.
MATERIALS
Materials choices at Here + Now Now prioritise sustainability. All new timber is FSC certified. Fabric throughout the atrium of Now is Camira Rivet, made from 100% REPREVE®, a brand of recycled polyester from used plastic bottles. Vanity units in the change areas use Neolith®, a carbon neutral surfacing material, and all carpet in the buildings is carbon neutral. Where possible, we have reused and repurposed materials and optimised, rather than replaced, existing features.
